Unfortunately i had to withdraw my previous blog's winnings to pay for a few things. I also decided to have a bit more of a rest from poker and get my head straight. After playing about 29000 hands in August and tilting hard towards the end i thought i had completely recovered by the start of September. However at the onset of another downswing i found myself resorting to old habits (eg 25/50c hu omahaha), which is definitely not +EV. Luckily i managed to have a bit of a win in that department and cashed out around $200 from a $100 initial investment.
I have realized a few things about poker recently. I previously wasn't very realistic when it came to variance; expecting that i should generally be winning all my sessions and if i did lose it shouldn't be more than 3 buy ins maximum. After a lot of reading and discussing on 2p2 is has become fairly clear that variance can be vicious and 10 buy in downswings are not uncommon, even at microstakes. I need to focus on things in the long term. In this light im going to try ignore the swings and only really analyse my game in 10k hand intervals.
Anyhow i deposited a sleazy $50 onto stars about 4 days ago. I ran good, winning like $40, $30 of which i withdrew to buy some shirts on ebay (lol!). Therefore im left with $60.39, or 12 buy ins at my current home NL5! Hopefully i can run decently and start taking shots at NL10 around $150.
